What
we
do.
First and foremost, we listen.
Every project is unique. Initial client dialogue serves as a crucial compass to explore each project's inherent potential.
Ongoing client engagement helps ensure design solutions remain in-tune with a project's needs.
Strength is cultivated through collaboration. We align ourselves with great consultants who enrich the overall project.
We speak 'construction' so you don't have to. Having knowledgeable oversight delivers the best results and protects your investment.
What we do.
Residential Architecture
Whatever your residential project needs are, we will work with you to help turn them into reality, and help you navigate the process with attention and care.
Single Family - Renovation / Addition and New build
Most homeowners want a house that will fit their lifestyle, family circumstances, and even allow them to age in place for the longer term. If your existing house is just not working for you, we can help to reconfigure it, or even expand your space outward or upward. We can also design you a new home, whether you want to tear down an existing house to replace it with something more suitable, or build new on an empty lot.
Multi Units
Municipal by-laws have changed to attract more multi unit residential construction. Small developers, and potential homeowners who want to leverage additional rental income to help price them back into the real estate market, are taking a serious look at this option. Additionally, two or more families can buy a house together and reconfigure it to contain multiple separate units as needed with the potential to share the space load for utility and storage. With pooled resources and a sense of unconventional adventure there are some really interesting opportunities to be found.
Laneway Houses & Garden Suites
These satellite secondary suites behind a house utilize either a rear laneway as a minor access street, or the depth of a suitable rear-yard with side-yard access. These are great options for additional rental income or to support family members who want to maintain their independence or even age in place but still have the comfort of family close by.
Commercial Architecture
If this is your first time designing and building out your new commercial space don’t worry, we will work with you, whether you are a landlord or a tenant. We will take you through concept to opening and everything in between.
Office fit-outs
Are you starting a new business, or need to expand for your growing business, we can help you fit-out your space to suit your needs and look its best. Whether a small modification or a complete redesign, we can plan your space to make it look seamless and function as it should. We can also help you achieve all the latest health and safety requirements we face in today’s office spaces.
Retail infrastructure
If you are a Landlord with a dated retail property and are looking to refresh or upgrade it to attract prospective tenants, we can help. We can develop and execute a refreshed master plan for the entire property – or specific parts of it – that modernizes the space while considering the future needs of the building and site.
Retail fit-outs
Whether its your flagship location or a satellite store that needs to maintain your overall brand, we've got you covered. We can help you with planning layouts, navigating code and lease requirements, construction phases, and even designing furniture and fixtures that align with your image. Landlord or Tenant, we can help. We can also help you develop a cohesive branding strategy and 'look', if your goal is to build your brand across multiple locations.
Hospitality
These are typically challenging and fun projects that we really like to sink our teeth into. Whether you are looking to create something truly unique and interesting or set the right tone for a chain with ambitious expansion plans, we are here to help you navigate the system and design something special. Examples of hospitality spaces are restaurants, cafés, and boutique hotels, however, we would be happy to hear about your vision and help you bring it to life.
Building Science
When designing a building, there are many different material and component choices to consider. For example, styles of windows made from various materials with distinct thermal characteristics; types of insulation used in specific parts of a building for particular purposes; options for building cladding; and varied structural systems, to name a few. Some of the choices are made for budgetary reasons and others for comfort or longevity. However, experience has taught us that not all materials play well together, and the most expensive option is not always the right choice.
Two of our fundamental goals when designing each project is to use our knowledge in building science to provide clients with an elevated level of comfort and ensure their building has long-term resiliency to protect their investment.
